Madden 17 quest falls short for young gamer, Jaguars

Video gamer Eli Clayton controlled the Jaguars but lost in the quarterfinals at Saturday’s Madden 17 Club Series championships in Los Angeles. He reached the event from a March qualifier at EverBank Field.

The 20-year-old California resident, who qualified for the eight-player tournament by winning a March 4 qualifier at EverBank Field, exited in the quarterfinals.

Clayton’s Jaguars team, reinforced by numerous elite players from around the NFL, lost 31-23 to eventual champion Michael Clark of Spokane, Wash., controlling the Seahawks.

The multi-stage competition included preliminary tournaments hosted by eight NFL clubs, including the Jaguars, to determine the top player in the series at the EA Sports video game.
